How much money to bring on an all-inclusive vacation?

Chrissy asked:

I am headed to Jamaica for an all-inclusive vacation and I am having a hard time trying to decide how much money to bring for any shopping/excursions. We will do the falls, go to Margaritaville, booze cruise, and possibly zip lining all though that is pricey. Other than that just any shopping and of course money to tip.

I’d say bring maybe $300, try not to go to ATM’s too much as the charges stack up pretty quick. Everyone will take American Money but you tend to pay about 15% less if you pay in Jamaican. You can problably order Jamaican through a local bank or go to a currency exchange at home before leaving.

Shopping, there’s really not too much shopping to do if your thinking of cruises you’ve been on in the past or something like that. There’s lots of cool souvenirs, great coffee, good rum but your not going to be doing much clothe or jewelry shopping.

Margaritaville is surprisingly affordable, Ricks gets pretty expensive you could easily spend over $100 if you had dinner and drinks up there some night.

That depends on how many excursions you want to take, how much you want to spend shopping, how much you want to drink off the resort. I personally spent about 50 bucks my last trip to Jamaica, I went to the falls and that was the only excursion I did. That and a few beers off the resort.

Just remember that nearly everyone that works off the resort works for tips. At the falls the guides work 100% for tips, I learned this the hard way as I went with 10 other people and the resort didn’t inform us of this. So our guide worked for free since none of us brought extra cash for it.
