We’re going on a Mexican 4 day cruise next week and would love to hear some last minute tips and tricks since we’ve never cruised before. We know about the basic ship features but would appreciate some personal advice on what to bring, things to do, and other ways to have fun AND save money. (We’ve got a 7 year old girl and 4 year old boy in tow) Thanks!
The biggest money saver is to not book tours through the ship. When you get off the \ship, there will be a number of tour operators that charge half the price.

I took a cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines back in 2006 and had a wonderful time. Pack casual clothing and if you plan on eating in the dinning room you’ll need dresser clothing otherwise they have plenty of places on the ship you can eat without dressing up. They will try and sell you pictures on the ship but don’t waste your money, take your own. When you are on shore, watch the souvenir shops, you can spend alot of money in them. The excurison they offer can be expensive to, so look into them before you get on the ship. Swimming with the dolphins can get costly for a family of four. I mostly just walk around and enjoyed the sights. As for your children, they have camp carnival on board and everyone raved about it. You can drop them of and they are taken care of most of the day. They also have several pools on board and one of them has a big water slide. Very fun. Just watch the tourist traps and you will have a great time. One more thing,
make sure the kids have something to do while you are checking in because the line can be pretty long. Have a good time.
