Tips on going on a cruise with a 6 year old and an 18 month old?

Does anyone have any tips on cruises with kids? We are going on one this weekend to the carribbean and I’m nervous that there won’t be much to do with kids or that others on the cruise won’t like that we brought them. We are going with other families (24 of us total with 4 kids). Please advise!
Well to answer most of you, ALL of our family is going on the cruise as a reunion. There will be no-one at home to watch the kids and why would I want to leave my baby for 10 days or even a 4 day cruise? This is a vacation for all of us. I did call the cruise line this am and they have some programs for the kids to get involved with. I was mostly hoping for tips on what others have done with kids on a cruise, not parenting tips on how to leave my kids with a sitter.

Call your cruise line. They can at least let you know if they have child care, and things the children can do. It will give you a better idea of what to do while on your trip. They may even be able to give you some advice on makeing your trip better for all of you.

Personally, I have to agree with the previous answer. Although, I would leave BOTH the kids at home. Check with the cruise line to see what types of services are offered for the care of your children. If the cruise is primarily for the adults, take the loss on the ticket, you will be glad you did. Your child will not have any fun and will look to you to support his free time.

WHY would anyone take an 18mnth old on any cruise???Leave that baby with a relative or friend, makes no sense, besides, it won’t remember it at all. Plus, you won’t really be able to have the fun you would with attending to the baby all the time. The 6yr will have others to play with. Don’t take that baby, besides, what if something happens to him/her. Be safe and have a relative watch the baby. You’ll enjoy the trip so much better.

I have friends and family that have RAVE reviews for the Disney cruise lines!! Fun for both kids and gets enjoyment and fun for adults! The cruise line also takes you out to their own private island.
