what is the best midrange cruise line for relaxing and being pampered?

slwilson1966 asked:

My husband and I want to take a cruise for total rest & relaxation. Kids are staying home, this is our first real vacation in ages. We can’t do the high-end cruise lines – something in the middle. Which one has the best service, food, experience?

Go to the Boards at CruiseCritic.com for lots of info and to compare cruise lines. Celebrity is really nice!

There are so many depending on your tastes and location.

The most relaxing and best for the money that I took was NYC to Bermuda – 7 days on Royal Caribbean. It had 2 days at sea, 3 days in Bermuda and then 2 days returning. Other cruises will land on an island or port for a few hours to a day (8-10 hr) which makes it hectic trying to see things and shop etc. But the Bermuda cruise with 3 days on the island, was relaxing. We could site see and shop and tour at our leasure.

The cost a few years ago was around $1000 for an oceanview, I haven’t priced it recently. But I would suggest to shop around – There are differnt prices and different lines and different cabins (interior is less but you still have all the features of the ship but no window. You won’t be spending much time in you cabin).

I would stay away from the “party lines” such as carnival. Do some research on the ship by searching for reviews in yahoo. they can give you an idea on what life is like on a cruise.

What ever you do – Enjoy your cruise.

Went on Carnival for our honeymoon a few years ago. It was not too expensive, yet the food, entertainment, and general atmosphere were really good. We could do as little or as much as we wanted. We (honestly) spent a lot of time sleeping – it was a great vacation!

Norwegian wins hands down over any other we have travelled with. Norwegian Star is the most luxurious followed by Norwegian Wind. Happy sailing!! rustyR

Carnival is fun. The people are nice, food is good, service good, good destinations. Princess and Celebrity are more “pampering”, but more pricey.
